What service can you provide to groups that they normally might not receive?
A unique service that we provide to guests/groups would be our complimentary Lexus car service. Our Lexus SUV or Hybrids drive guests throughout the Boston neighborhoods in style. We also provide drop-off service at Logan International Airport.
What are your bar or nightclub recommendations?
The bar and lounge at Mooo are quite popular and have recently added half-moon banquettes that give a great vantage point of the bar action. Red Lantern is generally buzzing from 5pm, straight through last call. The bar area at Trade has been attracting many people from the Financial District. Club Cafe, Bijoux, Bar Julep, Beehive and The Estate are also fun depending on the desired atmosphere.
Can you recommend a good place to take a stroll?
Meander through the historic Beacon Hill neighborhood. Make a right outside our door and walk down to Joy and Mount Vernon Street. A few blocks further is the infamous Louisburg Square. Make a left onto West Cedar Street, then a left onto Acorn St; the most photographed streets in the city. You will get the feel of Boston, circa 1800, complete with brownstone houses and cobblestone streets. Continue downhill to Charles St, make a right for antiquing and peruse the unique shops. At the end of Charles Street you will see the Longfellow Bridge foot bridge. Cross over the River and you will get a unique view of both the Boston and Cambridge skyline which is especially breathtaking at sunset.
Are there any quirky places we should check out?
The Isabella Gardner Museum houses some of the most amazing works of art in the country and has a beautiful seasonally private garden court yard. The restaurant and gift shop are topnotch. The Mapparium at the Christian Science Center has an arched stain glass ceiling that has a map of the Earth. It is also an acoustic wonder. If you stand at one end, and whisper, the person at the other end can hear you clear as a bell.
What is an unusual request from a group you’ve had?
A group from Spain wanted to watch the Real Madrid versus Barcelona soccer match—a huge rivalry. Soccer matches were not easily found on broadcast television in the States. We located a pub that was televising the match and not only did we reserve a private section for the group, but we were permitted to set up special decorations, including the colors and logos of both teams. When the group arrived, they were elated and shocked at the attention that received. They figured that we didn't understand the importance of the game, so we aimed to give them an experience that went beyond their expectations.
A party of 12 wants to have dinner right away. What restaurant can accommodate last-minute requests of this size?
We have developed keen relationships with restaurants that work with us to creatively accommodate our guests with large parties. Mooo, Mistral, Sorellina, Teatro and Post 390 to name a few.
What’s a unique event that has taken place at your property?
Among the many events we host at Fifteen Beacon, our fundraising efforts for then MSPCA tops the list. We transformed our two-bedroom suite into a unique boutique showcasing specialty clothing, jewelry, and local pet collars/products. Hotel Guests and local residents enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while shopping (proceeds directly to the MSPCA). Atop our roof deck, our attendees brought their dogs, to our “Fall Dogtoberfest.” Our Canine Ambassador, Heidi, was there to welcome all; Champagne or beer for guests and in-house-made peanut butter biscuits for the pups. Dunking for apples for both. Lots of happy wagging tails that night!
