The Loews Coronado Bay is in the middle of a $5.7 million renovation that will bring guests one step closer to the shores of San Diego Bay.
The lobby will be outfitted with "nano doors"— glass doors that can be folded back — to make more open space and to give guests a better view of the outdoors, said general manager Brian Johnson.
"We're bringing the outdoors in, and we're bringing the indoors out," Johnson says.
The lobby is getting a contemporary redesign with a color palette of blues, grays and natural earth tones and an eye-catching, two-story chandelier made of glass spheres.In keeping with today's front-desk trend, the Loews will replace the lobby's front desk with small desk pods manned by hotel agents. The agents will be able to greet guests more easily by being able to step away from their station, instead of being locked behind a traditional desk.
Sports fans will like the updates to the restaurant-bar in the lobby. The area will be redone with a floating bar, communal-style bar tables and a media wall that consists of nine LCD, flat-screen TVs that can all broadcast sporting events.
The hotel lobby will be completed in June, with the rest of the renovation project to be completed in September.
