Valley Forge Hotel Activity is Rampant

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa.

The hotel hoopla that started in late 2010 in Montgomery County and the Valley Forge area shows no signs of slowing down.

Located inside the former Valley Forge Convention Center complex, the Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia is now open. The property offers 486 guest rooms among two existing hotels, 100,000 square-feet of meeting and convention space, eight dining options, a ballroom, nightclub, a pool and a fitness center. The nearly 40,000-square-foot gaming floor features 50 table games and 600 slot machines.

In the fall King of Prussia will also welcome a new Sheraton Valley Forge. The new property, which is actually a rebuild/expansion, will have 180 guest rooms, 25,000 square feet of meeting space, a restaurant, bar, indoor pool and expanded fitness center.

Just five miles to the west in Oaks, adjacent to the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, the new Hilton Garden Inn Valley Forge/Oaks is currently under construction and scheduled for an October 2012 opening. The 135-room property will feature more than 5,000 square-feet of meeting space, a restaurant, bar, indoor pool and outdoor gathering area with a fire pit.

There’s also a boutique hotel in the mix. The Woodside Lodge at Spring Mountain near Schwenksville is a newly-remodeled 1920s era nine-room country manor. It’s the only inn with an adjacent ski area in the Philadelphia area. The property, with $1.5 million in renovations opened in early February, features seven two-room suites, a first-floor accessible room, plus a bunk room that sleeps eight. It also has a full-service restaurant and bar and more than 1,700 square feet of event space.
