DALLAS
The 1,001-room Omni Dallas Hotel received LEED Gold certification yesterday
for new construction, the first and so far only LEED Gold hotel in Texas and the
largest LEED Gold hotel in the United States outside of Las Vegas.
The
construction of the property, which opened last November, included recycled and
regionally sourced materials, and a plan that reduced construction pollution and
conserved water.
Systems also are in place to
control lighting and temperature in guest rooms by using the room key. In
addition, the on-site Texas Spice recently was certified as a 2-Star Green
Restaurant by the Green Restaurant Association.
The Omni Dallas has 110,000
square feet of meeting space, including the 32,000-square-foot Dallas and
15,000-square-foot Trinity ballrooms. The property is connected via skybridge to
the Dallas Convention Center.
