It's a brand new, first of its kind hotel in Wayne, Nebraska. And aside from making history, it's also going to make a big difference for this small town's economy.
Tuesday was the official ribbon cutting for the brand new Cobble Stone Inn and Suites in Wayne Nebraska. The hotel is priding it's self on the services it offers guests, including an indoor pool, a 24-hour convenience mart and even a wine bar.
"I would stay here... very comfortable, very home-setting. You've got your desk and your television and nice comfortable beds," said Keri Wren from Wayne.
But more than just giving guests a comfortable place to sleep, it's giving this community the economic boots it needs.
"Wayne is not a destination location, it's a pass through. And one of the things is, there are certain accommodations that some travelers are looking for that they are not able to find it they stay in other communities. We're able to capture that now and turn those dollars in our small community," said Ken Kwapnioski, hotel management.
Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman was at the ribbon cutting, he says this new hotel will have a major economic impact on this community.
And the community itself has been a huge part in making this dream a reality. Forty-eight of the 50 people who invested in this project are from Wayne.
"It's been very comforting to us for people to be willing to put their money where their mouth was," said Kent Franzen, with hotel management.
The community hopes this new hotel will bring in more athletic groups and tournaments for local schools and Wayne State College.
