KNOXVILLE, Tenn.
The Knoxville Tourism and Sports Corporation has become the Knoxville
Convention and Visitors Bureau, and will officially be known as Visit
Knoxville. In addition to the rebranding, in the wake of some
controversy over a former official, the organization has tapped a new
leader and re-organized its board.
Back in February, KTSC forced founder and former President Gloria Ray
out of the organization's top spot after local television station WBIR
uncovered legal issues with Ray's employment contract and questions
about its expenses. Ray maintains she did nothing wrong. Meanwhile,
Visit
Knoxville has named interim President Kim Bumpas as its new president.
She received an 11-month contract with the title as the bureau’s future
is still in question.
Should it get necessary funding by October 31st, the organization’s board will search for a new, long-term president.
