The Australian billionaire building a
replica of the Titanic, slated to sail by 2016, says the vessel will
have a new safety deck featuring "proper lifeboats" as well as safety
chutes and slides. The new deck also will have new public rooms, according to
several Australian news outlets.
Australia's ABC News quotes Palmer as saying the top decks of the replica—to be
called Titanic II—will feature public rooms, stairs, cabins and other elements
of the original Titanic in similar locations. But the new safety deck will
offer spaces not found on the original Titanic.
Among the new spaces announced by Palmer is a casino, ABC News says.
Palmer first announced
plans to build the Titanic replica in late April, just days after
the 100th anniversary of the original vessel's sinking.
