POCONOS, Pa.
Wisconsin-based Kalahari Resorts has announced plans to open a new water park and convention center in the Poconos.
The ambitious project is slated to include a 300,000-square-foot indoor water park, 1,200 guest rooms and a 10-acre outdoor water park, all built on a 150-acre property around Pocono Manor.
There is no timetable for the local convention center, or for any part of the Kalahari resort. It has not been given construction or building approvals from any local or state agency.
The region already has two indoor water parks—Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun and H20oooh! water park at Split Rock Lodge—business leaders see that as market testing, not necessarily a challenge.
