The Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Va. has just launched a new onsite culinary excursion for groups that takes them behind the scenes at the famous property.
Executive Chef Sean O’Connell recently completed this handcrafted Gourmet Safari. The expedition allows small groups to participate in a private tour through the resort’s culinary venues. This delicious trip will take guests to several spots, where they can learn first-hand from Chef O’Connell what he puts into his food.

Wine Room with Chef and the resort’s Sommelier
Learn the basics of the resort’s wine program while sampling wines. To pair with their wine, participants will also enjoy an Artisan Cheese tasting of Brie, Cheddar, Edam, Emmethaler, Dry Jack & Gouda Cheese; Crusty Bread, Crackers & Rolls, Dried Fruit, Nuts & Preserves .
Pastry Shop with Executive Pastry Chef Michel Finel & Executive Chef O’Connell
Visit the resort’s Pastry Shop and learn about its history, signature recipes and bread program. Guest will be able to make and sample some treats including Cheesecake Lollipops
Main Kitchen with Executive Chef O’Connell
Explore the resort’s headquarters off the Main Dining Room. Next, tour the Main Dining Room as Chef O’Connell shares fascinating culinary facts and anecdotes. Then, use some freshly baked bread to make bruschetta.
It’s a memorable way for leisure and business groups to spend some time bonding while learning about and enjoying food. The Gourmet Safari can host 10 – 25 people at $55.00 per person. Lunch and dinner add-ons can also be purchased at an additional cost.
