One of metro Detroit's marquee hotels, the Hyatt Regency Dearborn, will become a Radisson Hotel & Conference Center at the end of October and will undergo a multimillion-dollar renovation.

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, based in Minneapolis and Brussels, Belgium, said Tuesday that it has signed a long-term agreement to manage the 772-room hotel, located in the Town Center retail complex in Dearborn near Ford's headquarters.

Hyatt announced in May that it would no longer manage the hotel after its current contract expires Oct. 31. Royal Realties, a group of international investors, acquired the hotel in April 2011.

"We are confident that with the investment and upgrades being made to our property, it will make the hotel a favorite for anyone visiting Dearborn for years to come," Chuck Taylor, a representative for Royal Realties, said in a statement.

The only other Radisson hotel in metro Detroit is in Bloomfield Hills.

Carlson Rezidor, which does not currently manage any other hotels in Michigan, said it hopes to retain the hotel's existing employees. It manages and owns more than 1,300 hotels in 81 countries and territories, primarily under the Radisson name.

Ben Gardeen, a Carlson Rezidor spokesman, said he did not know how long it would take to complete the renovation. The hotel has served as the site of hundreds of conferences, weddings and other special events because it has 62,000 square feet of meeting space and a rooftop ballroom with 360-degree views.
