Atlantic City Casinos Emerge Unscathed

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.

Reports indicate that Atlantic City’s waterfront casino resorts, not only in the direct path of Superstorm Sandy but also dangerously close to the rising Atlantic, have emerged relatively unscathed.

The city’s casinos were ordered closed for only the fourth time since gambling was legalized in the oceanfront resort town in 1978. While they seem ship-shape enough to return to action, casino regulators were intending to inspect each of them Wednesday before making a determination on the re-openings.

The sweeping closure is reportedly costing the casinos a collective $5 million in lost revenue daily.

While nine of the casino properties are on the Boardwalk fronting the Atlantic—with the others in the Marina district—most only suffered insignificant damage, with reports from Caesars’ four casinos indicating no fallout whatsoever, and the pair of Trump properties hit by only minor leaks and small sign and window damage.
