The British hotel chain Premiere Inn is rumored to be planning to install hallway “noise meters” in its properties. The meters will be triggered by noises reaching a certain decibel level and will remind guests to keep their voices down.
The Budget hotel chain values peace and quiet and historically, the chain has offered refunds to guests who did not get a good night's sleep during their stay, and the meters may be an attempt to keep the number of refunds down.
