Doug Messinger, JW Marriott Indianapolis – Indianapolis, Ind.

What service can you provide to groups that they normally might not receive?

We can get you tickets to sold-out events from major concerts to Indianapolis Colts games.

What are your bar or nightclub recommendations?

The Libertine is a fantastic prohibition-era style liquor bar with an equally amazing menu for dinner.  Nicky Blaine's is a great cigar/martini bar. The Slippery Noodle is the place to go for live blues every night of the week - they are also the city's oldest bar. The best dance club in the city is The Vogue in one of Indianapolis' six cultural districts called Broad Ripple.

Can you recommend a good place to take a stroll?

The downtown canal walk is the best place to take an evening stroll or a morning jog.

Are there any quirky places we should check out?

The Indiana Medical History Museum is a great place to visit that most people don't know about. It is located on the grounds of what was formerly the Central Indiana Hospital for the Insane. The museum maintains a collection of scientific artifacts from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries including various skeletons and an antique model of the human brain.

What is an unusual request from a group you’ve had?

We had a group request a private charter plane to Chicago for four of their VIP's. The 25-minute plane ride cost $4000.

A party of 12 wants to have dinner right away. What restaurant can accommodate last-minute requests of this size?

Mo's a Place for Steaks - my favorite steak house, or Adobo Grill - my favorite Mexican restaurant.

What’s a unique event that has taken place at your property?

We were the media hotel for Super Bowl XVI and we've also hosted the awards ceremony for Indy 500.
