PORTLAND, Ore.
Travel Oregon, working with Brand USA, New World Travel, Sonoma County, Seattle Convention and Visitors Bureau and Visit California, has developed an itinerary that will have oenophiles packing up their palates and heading to western wine country.
The Western Wine Trail is a 12-day itinerary that begins in San Francisco, meanders through Northern California, winds through Oregon Wine country and ends in Seattle.
"This multi-state, partnership is unprecedented and is representative of the way global visitors want to experience travel in the United States," said Teresa O'Neill, Vice President of Global Sales at Travel Oregon. "Visitors do not consider state borders when they are planning their vacations, rather they choose a region of the world based on the unique experiences and enrichment those places offer them personally. The new Western Wine Trail itinerary offers the best of the west for wine lovers and travel trade."
Highlights from the itinerary include: a rafting trip through the picturesque Hellgate Canyon on Oregon's Wild and Scenic Rogue River paired with local wine; perusing the Willamette Valley with a naturalist guide to dig into Oregon's commitment to sustainable farming and fine art of viticulture; sampling a wide array of world-renowned restaurants and bars in Portland; meeting winemakers in Woodinville wine country and stops in Sonoma and the botanical gardens of Ft. Bragg.
