BIG ISLAND OF HAWAII
The Mauna Kea Resort, home to the iconic Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and its contemporary neighbor, the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel, is pleased to announce a multi-million dollar program to refresh guestrooms, restaurants and other facilities.
Work is expected to begin in August and be completed by November. Model guestrooms are slated to open at both properties in late spring. Barry Design of Santa Monica California, which previously managed the renovation of the main building at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, will oversee upgrades of the adjacent four-story Plumeria Beach Front Wing, just footsteps from the white sands and turquoise waters of beautiful Kauna’oa Bay.
All 102 guestrooms in the wing built in 1968, will be refreshed in a clean and contemporary, yet traditional style. Upgrades include plush bedding package, floor treatments, and new interior and lanai furniture. Bathroom makeovers will include new bathtub, separate shower, two sinks and new commode.
Award-winning Phillpots Interiors of Honolulu has been retained to oversee the décor enhancements at the Hapuna Beach Hotel. The Phillpots design team will blend the laid-back feel of Hawaii’s tropical ambience with today's modern luxuries. Guestrooms will be redone with new bedding, room and lanai furniture and fixtures, new overhead and bedside lighting, new wall and floor treatments, and a large flat-screen, high-definition television will be added to each room.
Enhancements to Hapuna’s pool area will include the resurfacing of the pool deck and new furniture. In addition, Hapuna’s lobby and three restaurants, Ocean Terrace, Reef Lounge and Coast Grille, will be refreshed and updated with modern furnishings.
The two hotels combined offer a total of 608 guestrooms and 100,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, with on-site business and AV centers, and fulltime banquet and conference services staff.
