A quick take on some recent openings and upgrades in the world of conference centers.

Eaglewood Resort & Spa in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, recently completed a two-month, $1.2 million renovation of its conference center. With more than 37,000 square feet, Eaglewood Resort & Spa is an IACC-certified space. The resort also features 37 function rooms and 295 guest room units.

The 16-story San Luis Resort, Spa & Conference Center in Galveston, Texas, offering 250 guest rooms, has revamped its 40,000-square-foot conference center. Retaining its IACC approval status, the conference center is now furnished with more than 200 Herman Miller Setu chairs and flip-top training tables.

The Emory Conference Center Hotel in Atlanta, with 325 guest rooms and 32,000 square feet of conference space, recently wrapped an extensive renovation of its 32,000-square-foot meeting space, which included the rebuilding of its 240-seat Emory auditorium/amphitheater and the 74-seat Oak amphitheater.

The 30,000-square-foot, multiuse Gastonia Conference Center opened in downtown Gastonia, N.C., earlier this year, 15 miles away from Charlotte/Douglas International Airport. With 5,000 square feet of function space, the grand ballroom accommodates over 300 people for banquet seating, or over 400 people for auditorium-style seating. Six breakout rooms totaling more than 3,600 square feet are also available and accommodate groups of 20 to 60 people each.
