U.S. Travel Praises Pritzker’s Cabinet Confirmation

WASHINGTON, D.C.

With a 97-1, vote, the Senate confirmed Penny Pritzker as the next Secretary of Commerce, earning kudos from the U.S. Travel Association.

The bipartisan thumbs-up followed a mostly smooth confirmation process for Pritzker, a billionaire executive with family ties to the Hyatt Hotels Corp.

Roger Dow, president and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association, released the following statement today applauding the Senate's confirmation of Penny Pritzker to serve as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

"We applaud the Senate for approving Penny Pritzker to serve as America's next Secretary of Commerce.

"With her proven business acumen, Pritzker is an unparalleled choice to lead a Department charged with advancing U.S. economic growth. Her record of success as a business leader and entrepreneur – and lifelong affiliation with America's No. 1 services export, the travel industry – give her the experience and perspective to serve as an exemplary Commerce Secretary.

"We look forward to working with Pritzker to advance critical travel and economic issues. Again, we applaud the Senate for confirming her to serve in President Obama's cabinet."
