CALGARY, Alberta
Despite the heavy recent flooding in southern Alberta, the Calgary Stampede will continue as planned for its 101st edition, taking place from July 5 through 14.
President and Chairman of the Board for the Calgary Stampede, Bob Thompson, remarked, “We have pumped millions of gallons of water from our facilities, scraped the mud from our tarmac, and commenced the cleanup of our Park to welcome our guests from around the world…we will be hosting The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, come hell or high water.”
While numerous communities have felt the brunt of the flooding, the water level has peaked and a rebuilding effort is already well underway. Most major attractions and national park experiences are open again, and the majority of park roadways have been cleared for travel.
