Regent Cruises to launch Seven Seas Explorer in 2016

MIAMI

Regent Seven Seas Cruises entered into a definitive contract with Italy’s Fincantieri shipyard to build its largest vessel yet, the Seven Seas Explorer.

The 54,000-ton-ship will accommodate 738 guests and claims it will have one of the highest space and staff-to-guest ratios among modern cruise ships. Customer service will continue to be a key emphasis for Regent–which expects a summer 2016 launch for the Seven Seas Explorer.

Prestige Cruise Holdings purchased the Regent Seven Seas Cruises brand in 2008 and hopes the new ship will expand the company’s footprint in the luxury cruise market. The addition of the Seven Seas Explorer will increase overall fleet capacity by nearly 40 percent, making Regent Seven Seas Cruises the world’s largest luxury cruise line.

According to a recent press release the Seven Seas Explorer will feature spacious designer suites, elegant public areas and a wide range of dining options with six gourmet restaurants. The ship will also feature an expansive Canyon Ranch Spa Club, Regent’s signature nine-deck atrium and the two-story Explorer Theater–in addition to many other amenities
