SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico
The San Juan Marriott Resort has begun an $8 million renovation, focused on upgrades to all 525 guestrooms and balconies. The redesign will bring the look and feel of the rooms in line with the ongoing modernization of the rest of the resort, and is slated for completion by early December.
The new room product will reflect a more upscale, residential ambience, combining warm wooden tones in furnishings with fresh splashes of color to signify the tropical location. Additionally, new 47-inch TVs, balcony furniture, and sandy textured carpeting that alludes to the beachfront setting will be incorporated, and artwork will further provide a sense of place.
San Juan Marriott's last room product upgrade was a $35 million investment in 2007, which produced a completely renovated room and bathroom combining clean, crisp design with modern tech. Other recent updates include a re-imagined La Vista Latin Grill, the hotel's three meal a day restaurant and La Isla Beach and Pool Bar in 2010, as well as a $2.2 million overhaul of the lobby and introduction of the "Red Coral Lounge" in 2012.
The San Juan Marriott is home to a full casino, two elaborate swimming pools, more than 9,000 square feet of meeting facilities, multiple dining options and a lobby lounge for nighttime entertainment.
