SPOKANE, Wash.
Ground has broken on the expansion of the Spokane Convention Center, further evidence of the region's growth and ability to attract more convention and meetings business, said Cheryl Kilday, President & CEO of Visit Spokane.
"This is a great step for the Convention Center and the Spokane region," said Kilday. "The completion expands the exhibit hall and new meeting rooms in a highly functional and flexible facility while capturing vistas of the Spokane River gorge. We are excited about the project and the opportunity to attract more meetings to our community with this great facility."
In addition to opening new opportunities to pursue larger conventions, conferences and meetings, the Convention Center expansion will allow for two or three groups to use the facility simultaneously.
The $55 million project is slated for a December 2014 completion and will add an additional 91,000 square feet of meeting/exhibit space.
