BEAVERTON, Ore.
The Green Meeting Industry Council (GMIC) in partnership with Twirl Management is launching the Certificate in Sustainable Event Planning as a 360-degree learning environment to create a new class of sustainable event practitioners. The students will be working towards the mission of creating, guiding and implementing the sustainability goals and performance outcomes of the 2014 Sustainable Meeting Conference.
Adult learners that participate will receive recognition onsite as the Conference Green Team and a GMIC Certificate in Sustainable Event Planning. They will have an opportunity to present their case study findings to the greater GMIC Community. Students will walk away with the knowledge, tools and confidence to implement the highest quality of sustainable meetings and events. CEU credit is available.
The course will be guided by "Sustainable Meetings Coach” Johanna R. Walsh, CMP, who has planned over 10 APEX compliant meetings since the standards were released last year. Guest appearances and teaching from sustainable event experts, suppliers and planners will add to the experience.
This GMIC course includes 40 hours of instruction and application plus onsite field work.The process will lead each class participant through the achievement of practical application in sustainable meeting and event management. The majority of the program is online with some offline experiential application of concepts. The culminating experience is an onsite practicum at the 2014 Sustainable Meetings Conference in San Francisco, Ca. April 14 - 17th.
