PITTSBURGH, Pa.
A recently released of America’s Top 50 Meeting Cities from the enterprise event management platform Cvent has left one major East Coast metropolis feeling a bit left out.
“The list does not reflect the overall meeting and event bookings in Pittsburgh because it only includes the events that were booked through the Cvent Supplier Network,” says Craig Davis, president and CEO of VisitPittsburgh. “This is like measuring cell phone traffic in Pittsburgh by counting how many people use Cricket; 2013 is the first year we have worked with Cvent and it is only one of the many, many ways meeting or convention leads are booked in Pittsburgh. The list would be more complete if it included the total number of meetings booked at the destination as well as the number of hotel room nights, regardless of how they were booked.”
The Cvent list was led by Orlando, Chicago and Las Vegas, but also included such lesser-populated locales as Kissimmee, Fla. and Schaumburg, Ill.
