Revamped Ann Arbor Hotel Back in Biz

ANN ARBOR, Mich.

For the first time, visitors and guests will get a glimpse inside the completely renovated Holiday Inn Near the University of Michigan. A north-side landmark in Ann Arbor since 1971, the hotel has wrapped $5 million, yearlong renovation, which included an overhaul all guest rooms and public spaces, as well as Guy Hollerin’s restaurant, renamed Guy Hollerin’s Ann Arbor Bar & Grill.

“Our guests— especially our regulars—are excited to see the final results of this renovation,” said Joe Sefcovic, general manager of the Holiday Inn Near the University of Michigan. “We’re curious to see if they recognize the hotel when they see it for the first time. The lobby, the rooms and the exterior have all been completely updated and modernized so our guests can sit back and enjoy the hotel more than ever before.”

The many updates include:

•   On the exterior, the iconic blue roof replaced and modernized. A new signature canopy soars over the lobby entrance and colorful new landscaping surrounds the property.

•   The lobby now features a media lounge with complimentary computers, printing, and Wi-Fi. Also in the lobby: a “24/7 Guest Pantry,” thoughtfully stocked with conveniences from gourmet coffees to toiletries to U of M apparel and area memorabilia.

•   All 225 guest rooms have been renovated with all-new furniture, plush interiors and new features including in-room refrigerators, microwaves, ergonomic desk chairs, custom lighting, signature artwork, and luxurious drapery.

•   The hotel’s entire meeting and event spaces have been updated and expanded. The hotel now offers more than 8,000 square feet of flexible space and an expansive pre-function area with 12 versatile meeting rooms, with the main ballroom space accommodating up to 460 guests. Meeting rooms now include a top-tier audio system and custom lighting.

The hotel renovation included an update of the newly renamed Guy Hollerin’s Ann Arbor Bar & Grill. Guy Hollerin’s has been a mainstay of the hotel since its beginnings and some things haven’t changed: the full-service bar and restaurant will continue to feature “Local Blues & Brews” on Saturday nights, which showcases the bests artists on the Ann Arbor and Detroit blues scene. What’s new is the menu, which still includes guest favorites, but now features dishes that reflect a more refined lifestyle, including a few vegan entrees.
