INDIANAPOLIS
The Historic Canterbury Hotel in downtown Indianapolis will close December 15 to benefit from a $9.5 million revamp that will open up and refurbish the lobby, relocate and expand the fitness center, update guestrooms, and redevelop the restaurant and lounge—while rebranding the property as part of Starwood’s Le Méridien brand.
The comprehensive redesign will maintain the hotel’s historic nature, most notably the exterior. When the property re-opens about nine months after renovation begins, it will be known as the Le Méridien Indianapolis Canterbury Hotel.
This 99-room, full-service hotel is connected to the Indiana Convention Center and Circle Centre Mall via climate-controlled skywalks, adjacent to the acclaimed St. Elmo Steak House, and a short stroll from Monument Circle, the State Capitol building, Bankers Life Fieldhouse and numerous attractions.
In addition to its proximity to the convention center, the property has 2,000 square feet of its own meeting and event space, and hosts business functions and social events for groups of up to about 150.
