South Dakota Convention Hotel Wraps Upgrades

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.

The Sheraton Sioux Falls Hotel is showcasing completion of the majority of its multi-stage, $6.5 million renovation, transforming the look and feel of the 243-room/suite South Dakota property.

A significant component of the hotel's upgrade is a redesign of its lobby, restaurant and lounge areas to enhance guests' social experience. In addition, most of its guest rooms/suites have been beautifully refurbished along with the hotel's meeting space and fitness facilities. Located next to the Sioux Falls Convention Center, the Sheraton Sioux Falls is owned and operated by Springfield-based John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts (JQH), the largest private, independent owner and manager of hotels in the United States.

As the final stage of the comprehensive property makeover, the 60 guest accommodations in the hotel's executive tower are slated for renovation in 2014. As a part of JQH's sustainability initiative, plans call for furniture in the executive tower improvement phase to be repurposed with local charitable organizations.

Conveniently located near many of the area's top attractions, prime shopping and leading businesses, the Sheraton Sioux Falls is focused on creating a distinctive guest experience. The hotel's newly designed common areas boast an inviting color palette of earth tones and blues, with attractive wood accents and functional media incorporated. Botanical designs, unique accessories, and tasteful original artwork highlighting local Sioux Falls points of interest construct a welcoming atmosphere ideal for work or play.

The refreshed lobby features the Link@SheratonSM experienced with Microsoft, a connection destination enabling travelers with instant access to information and technology. Strategically arranged groupings of comfortable furniture encourage conversation and are complemented by an oversized communal table in the open-air atrium. Able to seat 12, the communal table is ideal for recharging devices, getting work done with wired or Wi-Fi access, enjoying a meal, or socializing.

The Sheraton Sioux Falls' enhanced guest accommodations feature upgraded bathrooms with oversized mirrors and granite counter tops; new luxurious bedding; modern furniture and fixtures; energy efficient lighting; and fresh carpet and paint in a soothing color palette of sage, apricot and crème. The rooms have four distinct zones for a traveler to work and relax, including a welcome area, a connection zone, a rest area, and a re-energize space.

The hotel is also introducing a health and fitness program: Sheraton Fitness, Programmed by Core Performance. Created in partnership with Core Performance, a training and lifestyle brand built by the experts who train professional athletes in every major sport, the program helps travelers to train and eat healthy, as well as refresh, recharge and refocus their minds and bodies. The comprehensive offering features a comprehensive gym experience, healthy dining options, video-on-demand workouts, and online training.

The hotel is touting renovated meeting space, including attractive new seating, lighting, carpet and wall vinyl, and is conveniently connected to the Sioux Falls Convention Center by an enclosed walkway. The modernized 97,400 square feet of meeting space — including ballrooms and exhibition space — can accommodate up to 6,000 people.
