SEATTLE
Cedarbrook Lodge, located less than five minutes from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, broke ground Thursday, Dec. 12, on an expansion project, which will add a spa, whirlpool and third guest room building to the award-winning property. The $16 million project is scheduled for completion in Q3 of 2014.
“Cedarbrook has become a prime destination for business and leisure travelers alike,” said Stuart Rolfe, president of Wright Hotels, Inc., a Seattle-based company that is the Managing Member of Cedarbrook Lodge LLC. “Although the recent Proposition One $15 minimum wage initiative will have a negative impact on profitability, we are still committed to move forward.
"We envision this expansion to be a critical piece to the long-term continued success of the property. We’ll now be able to service more guests and larger corporate groups with the additional guest rooms and also include a state-of-the-art spa facility."
The project, designed by GGLO and built by Lease Crutcher Lewis, will increase Cedarbrook’s capacity by 60 percent, bringing the number of guest rooms and suites to 167. Also included in the expansion design is a new 3,350-square-foot spa, an outdoor heated whirlpool and an additional 49 guest parking spaces.
The Spa at Cedarbrook Lodge will be located on the ground floor of the Big Cedar (main) building adjacent to Copperleaf Restaurant & Bar’s lounge in the space which is currently the Brightwood Board Room. The spa will feature a steam room, six treatment rooms including two double/couples rooms, as well as a Vichy shower treatment room, two aesthetician treatment rooms and four manicure/pedicure stations. The Brightwood Board Room will be relocated to the second floor of the Big Cedar in the space which is currently occupied by Coastal Hotel Group’s corporate offices.
The heated outdoor whirlpool will be located outside of the Fitness Center overlooking the Evergreen Lawns. The 8-by-17-foot whirlpool features custom-designed cedar panel will slide over the top when the pool is closed, creating a terrace patio.
Construction on Cedarbrook’s new Alder guest room building is scheduled for completion in Q3 of 2014. The new five-story building features 63 guest rooms, including two Presidential Suites, and a communal Living Room with sitting areas, TV, 24/7 complimentary snacks and more. The new building will connect to the Reflections Gallery of the Big Cedar building.
The new guest rooms will feature similar fixtures and furnishings as the existing Spruce and Dogwood guest room buildings. Additionally, the Presidential Suites will feature floating fireplaces, extensive seating areas and an option for connecting rooms.
Cedarbrook Lodge is located on 18 acres of restored wetlands less than five minutes from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Upon completion of renovations, the property will offer 167 guest rooms and suites.
The hotel offers more than 18,000 square feet of flexible indoor meeting space, 14 banquet and meeting rooms, and 5,500 square feet of outdoor event space.
