SAVANNAH, Ga.
Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants announced it has hit the 50 percent completion mark on construction of its soon-to-open hotel, The Brice, located in the heart of Savannah, Ga.’s historic district. An adaptive reuse of one of the city's most iconic structures originally built in the 1860s, The Brice is slated to open in May 2014 and will pay homage to the building's rich history while putting Kimpton's contemporary twist on the more-traditional style of lodging commonly found throughout Savannah.
As the site of the first Coca-Cola bottling plant in Savannah, as well as a variety of other businesses including a wholesale grocer, tin shop and machine shop, The Brice aims to celebrate the building's storied past with features that reflect its history. Guests will find a giant factory window above the entrance and a concierge desk constructed from an old Coca-Cola sign, both nods to a bygone era.
The 145-room hotel, situated on Washington Square at 601 East Bay St., will include 5,700 square feet of indoor meeting and event space, as well as 2,300 square feet of outdoor space, perfect for weddings, corporate meetings and social events and celebrations. A Secret Garden will provide a lush, private, open-air sanctuary for guests to enjoy food and drinks from Kimpton's adjacent restaurant, music, culture, and community. A chef-driven Kimpton restaurant and craft cocktail bar will be located on the main floor.
