Google launched its new Chromebox for meetings service on Thursday, Feb. 7, in an effort to ease the adoption of high-definition video conference technology.
"The best meetings are face-to-face—we can brainstorm openly, collaborate closely and make faster decisions," the company stated in a recent blog post. "But these days, we often connect with each other from far-flung locations, coordinating time zones and dialing into conference calls from our phones."
The post goes on to detail how Google designed the Chromebox by combining its currently available Google+ Hangouts and Google Apps software to provide an easy-to-use high-definition video meetings solution at a starting price point of $999 (which includes the ASUS Chromebox, HD camera, Microphone/speaker and remote control, while also covering the first year's $250 management and support fee).
More information on the service can be found at the Chromebox for meetings website.
