TJM Atlantic City has announced the purchase of The Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City, N.J. Plans for an official Grand Opening are scheduled for May of this year.
The Claridge Hotel, once known by its 1929 nickname “Skyscraper by the Sea”, is situated in the prime center of the Atlantic City’s boardwalk. One of the last remaining architectural masterpieces from the Boardwalk Empire Era, The Claridge Hotel housed such legends as Marylyn Monroe, Al Capone, Nucky Johnson, Princess Grace of Monaco and Frank Sinatra.
“We are excited about this new opportunity for us in Atlantic City,” said Sherry Amos, TJM Atlantic City’s Spokesperson. “The distinct beauty and rich history of The Claridge Hotel, combined with our new plans for revitalization, will surely provide guests with a new popular destination to visit.”
The new owner, TJM Atlantic City, is a subsidiary of the Florida firm TJM Properties, Inc., which is a privately held Real Estate firm owned and operated by Terence J. McCarthy of St. Petersburg, Florida. TJM Atlantic City plans to position the property with the 1920’s era theming that will complement the architecturally stunning historic hotel.
Additional enhancements will be added including new themed restaurants, an elegant lobby bar and many new entertainment options, soon to be announced. These new attractions will certainly add a new appeal for Atlantic City and Jersey Shore destination travelers.
The “New” Claridge Hotel will target all market segments such as leisure travelers, families, group travel and convention business. Emphasis will be placed on providing unique service amenities such as private limo transportation, shopping and golf packages, state of the art cardio health club with pilates, spectacular entertainment in the 600-seat Las Vegas style cabaret showroom and an elegant ballroom facility to host weddings and private functions. The Claridge Hotel will also appeal to casino customers who can visit the Bally’s Casino conveniently connected to the second-floor entrance.
The “New” Claridge Hotel boasts 500 rooms, 50,000 square feet of event space, and is a prime location centered in front of Brighton Park on the famous Atlantic City Boardwalk. The property sits on the prestigious address of Boardwalk and Park Place and offers the sprawling beach and unique ocean front experience.
