A name says it all. When Jill Ramsier decided to shift gears career-wise and pursue a long-held passion to get into the wine business, she launched Quantum Leap Winery with her business partner, David Forrester. Not only did the name signify a personal leap, but the philosophy of the operation, which is to basically "skip" much of the carbon footprint left by traditional winemaking practices in favor of a more sustainable approach—all in downtown Orlando.
The Quantum Leap Winery model is to search for quality, sustainably grown wine, wherever it is around the world, and then transport it in large vessels to the Orlando winery, where it is stored, finished, blended and packaged, substantially reducing its carbon footprint.
Sangiovese, cabernet and pinot noir were a few of the excellent varietals we tried during our visit, as well as a crisp and refreshing garda from Italy.
The beautiful venue also doubles as a super unique event space. Receptions can be held in the tasting room, and the barrel room features a giant table with candles. The facility accommodates larger affairs that can include Cirque du Soleil-like productions.
