Austin Meetings Mecca Completes Guest Room Overhaul

AUSTIN, Texas

Hilton Austin announced the completion of a $21 million upgrade to its 800 guest rooms, as well as its suites and executive lounge. Dallas-based Looney & Associates provided interior design for the sweeping changes.

The makeover also includes all new furnishings, soft goods, accessories and artwork in each of the hotel's guest rooms and executive accommodations. The new look reflects Austin's assorted collection of cultures and styles, as well as its diverse mix of venues geared to business and leisure travelers. Each room and suite offers a modern mix of elements that appeal to the sophisticated traveler. A variety of textures, along with a tonal color palette with vibrant accents, aim to create a sense of user-friendly, contemporary comforts.

"We are extremely excited about our improvements and look forward to sharing them in a customer appreciation event this summer which will also celebrate our 10 years of service," said Robert Watson, general manager, Hilton Austin. "These changes provide travelers the latest in luxurious serenity and state of the art conveniences, including a bedside energy management system that controls the rooms lighting and air conditioning/heating."

The recent improvements follow an extensive refurbishment of the hotel's eighth floor pool deck in spring 2013. Changes included a new pool with cabanas, a resurfaced deck and the addition of the full service Skyline Pool Bar accented by new slate, wooden flooring and colorful Moroccan tile. The deck area offers a scenic view of the Austin skyline.

"Our goal was to keep guest convenience top of mind and make the process as much of a 'silent' renovation as possible," said Watson. "Part of the Hilton Austin culture is going the extra mile to ensure guest-comfort and satisfaction, which is why guests have enjoyed their stay without the inconveniences commonly associated with a redesign of this scope."

Hilton Austin is centrally located in the heart of downtown adjacent to the Austin Convention Center and surrounded by the cities eclectic collection of entertainment, dining and recreational options. Opened in 2004, the hotel is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

Hilton Austin is owned by the city of Austin and managed under a contract with Hilton Hotels Worldwide, based in McLean, Virginia. The property boasts more than 80,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including 38 breakout rooms.
