SEVIERVILLE, Tenn.
There’s a “sure sign” that the Sevierville Convention Center has a new name.
Located at mile marker 17.4 on Route 66 in Sevierville, Tennessee, the snazzy new electronic signage is more than just a sign, it signals the completion of the rebranding of the facility from “event” center to “convention” center. The sign will not only provide guests with clear, way-finding directions to the convention center, but also provide ongoing messages on the video board as to what is happening at the center.
“Public assembly facilities are well known throughout our industry by the type of lay-out that is offered to potential users,” said David Bobo, Sevierville Convention Center Director. “Our facility, under that premise, along with the categorizing by the International Association of Venue Managers is a convention center. It in no way defines the type of business that we solicit, it simply resonates more clearly with any potential user and they understand immediately what type of building we are.”
Convention centers are versatile facilities, featuring exhibition halls, ballrooms, and meeting space. The space can be configured in many different ways to accommodate many different types of meetings, events and shows. Each client comes in and has the capability based on the facility’s design to configure their show or meeting around the needs of their organization.
“Our potential clients understand this about convention centers and also the name better resonates with those not as familiar with our industry when they see our name,” remarked Bobo. "It gives us a greater chance to begin a dialogue that will potentially go full circle, ending in a booking with our facility."
The versatility of the Sevierville Convention Center has been on display throughout 2014 with events ranging from major volleyball tournaments, cheerleading competitions and religious conventions to business-to-business tradeshows, a large RV show, the Corvette Expo and even an Alpaca show that featured more than 500 alpacas roaming the convention center floor.
The Sevierville Convention Center is located just outside Great Smoky Mountains National Park, in the foothills of East Tennessee and only minutes from Interstate 40. The 200,000 square foot facility caters to events of all sizes, including sporting events, trade and retail shows, meeting conventions, retreats, seminars, banquets, receptions and holiday parties.
