Moscone Dodges S.F. Bottled Water Ban

SAN FRANCISCO

The recent decision by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to bar the city from purchasing bottled water—and to shut down the dispersal of bottled water of under 21 ounces on city property (beginning October 1)—will not impact the city’s Moscone Center convention venue for the time being.

Jon Ballesteros, vice president of public policy for San Francisco Travel, was reportedly in recent contact with the City of San Francisco, where it was determined that the new legislation will not be required of Moscone Center until its current renovation and expansion project is completed, currently slated for some time in 2018.

City marathons—like the famed Bay to Breakers race—and other such sporting events are also apparently  exempt from the bottled water ban, put in place in an effort to protect the environment.
