Visit Orlando has been named 2013 Convention Bureau of the Year by Los Angeles-based ConferenceDirect, one of the nation’s major meeting solutions companies specializing in site selection and contract negotiation, conference management, housing, registration and strategic meetings management.
“Our destination along with the men and women who make up our tourism community are fortunate to be atop many rankings,” said George Aguel, president & CEO of Visit Orlando. “However, this achievement in particular is a true testament to the dedicated efforts of the Visit Orlando Convention Sales and Services team that has built deep relationships with ConferenceDirect’s associates and their customers. I’m proud of our team and grateful to all of our Visit Orlando member companies and industry partners who work with us every day.”
The CVB of the Year is voted on by the 325-plus associates of ConferenceDirect and recognizes the tourism association that supports their efforts better than any other convention and visitors bureau or destination management organization in the country.
When announcing the award at ConferenceDirect’s Annual Partner Meeting in Anaheim, Calif., Brian Richey, Executive Vice President of ConferenceDirect, said, “Visit Orlando has been a consistent supporter of ConferenceDirect. They sign on and partner with us on every initiative we roll out to build an even deeper relationship with our associates and customers. They focus on the customer first and worry about who gets the credit later. We appreciate all they do to take care of us and our customers.”
This is not Visit Orlando’s first time being recognized for its outstanding contributions to the meetings industry. HelmsBriscoe also awarded Visit Orlando CVB of the Year in 2012.
