FRISCO, Texas
The Sheraton Stonebriar Hotel, which ranks No. 1 in guest satisfaction worldwide for all Sheraton hotels, is embarking an exciting expansion set to boost guest rooms and more.
The $10 million, 5,000-square-foot expansion project will add 51 guest rooms and a new outdoor pool and entertaining area to the property located at 5444 State Highway 121, about 20 miles northeast of DFW International Airport and close to booming development and business parks along the Dallas North Tollway corridor.
“We’ve been thinking about this expansion since 2008, but the timing wasn’t right until now,” said Craig Sundell, General Manager. “Even though the economy stalled us from moving forward with the complete vision of our hotel, the Sheraton Stonebriar staff didn’t let that stop us from focusing on world-renown service. Now that the timing is perfect, we look forward to servicing even more visitors to the Frisco area in the near future.”
Phase II of the Sheraton Stonebriar Hotel is expected to be completed by September 2014. The project will also include an expansion of the hotel’s health club, concierge lounge and provide more state-of-the-art meeting rooms, for a total of 6,500 square feet of flexible event space.
“As a growing tourist and convention destination, Frisco is in need of more hotel rooms,” said Marla Roe, Executive Director of the Frisco Convention and Visitors Bureau. “The expansion of the Sheraton Stonebriar Hotel will meet the needs of more travelers coming to Frisco for business during the week and those staying on the weekend to check out Frisco’s sports venues, quality dining and shopping.”
During Tuesday’s groundbreaking, Peter Streit, Sr. with Town & Country Development at Stonebriar Inc., spoke for the hotel’s ownership saying, “The support the City of Frisco and the Frisco Economic Development Corporation has given us is unsurpassed. We are grateful that city leadership has always stepped up to the plate to help this project move forward.”
