Napa Hotel Hosts Delicious Fundraising Duel

NAPA, Calif.

The Napa Valley Marriott Hotel & Spa is raising funds for local music education with an upcoming event pitting two of the region’s top chefs against one another.

The hotel is proud to be hosting the fifth annual Napa Valley BBQ & Beer Battle benefitting the Napa Valley Education Foundation's Music Connection Program. The initiative offers quality instruments to students and helps to boost underfunded music programs in Napa Valley Unified School District. The program rents instruments at reduced rates or even for free to more than 500 students.

"This event puts music into classrooms and instruments into children's hands," said Jennifer Stewart, executive director of Napa Valley Education Foundation. "The Marriott has donated more than $20,000 to our Music Connection program through this fun competition. We are so excited to be a part of the Napa Valley BBQ and Beer Battle."

The event takes place 1-4 p.m. June 29, 2014, at the Napa Valley Marriott and will feature a head-to-head competition between two of the best Napa Valley chefs. The barbecue showdown pits Joey Ray, chef de cuisine of the hotel's VINeleven, against Jonathon Bodnar, chef and owner of local favorite Smoakville. Beer lovers will be able to imbibe suds from the Bay Area's best craft breweries, and wine aficionados will enjoy samples from Judd's Hill. Live music will keep all participants well-entertained, and a raffle and live auction will be open to all attendees.

Tickets for the fundraiser are $64.29 plus tax and can be purchased at the door or online at www.napabbqandbeerbattle.com. Children under six years old are free.

After filling up on barbecue and beer, guests who take advantage of a special package from the Napa Valley hotel can take the elevator home and relax in deluxe accommodations for $339 per night on June 28-29, 2014, only. The deal includes two tickets to the fundraiser. Visitors should use promotional code XYO when booking rooms online or calling 1-707-253-8600.
