STAUNTON, Va.
Crestline Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of Damon L. Strickland, CHA, as general manager of the Stonewall Jackson Hotel & Conference Center in Staunton, Va.
Centrally located in the heart of historic downtown Staunton and built in 1924, the 124-room hotel is a member of Historic Hotels of America. In 2005, the property underwent a complete renovation and expansion and was restored to its original grandeur. Today the expanded hotel and conference center offers 8,500 square feet of meeting space blending modern amenities and old world sophistication.
Strickland succeeds Carol Simon as General Manager. Simon is retiring after 28 years with Crestline Hotels & Resorts, including her position as the Stonewall Jackson's General Manager since its pre-opening phase in 2005. Mr. Strickland joins the Stonewall Jackson from his position as General Manager of the dual complex Courtyard by Marriott Suffolk Chesapeake and TownePlace Suites Suffolk Chesapeake in Suffolk, Va., also Crestline managed hotels. He brings more than 12 years of hospitality operations experience having also held operations positions with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company and Hilton Hotels.
