SREE Hotels, LLC, a fully integrated hotel development and management company based in Charlotte, North Carolina, today announced the acquisition of the 189-room Courtyard by Marriott Columbia Downtown at USC in Columbia, South Carolina.
The new owners plan a four million dollar renovation to upgrade the interior and exterior, as well as integrating the new Courtyard Refreshing Business Decor Package into the lobby area.
"This presence of a premium brand in an urban location, close to the dynamic University, sports, and government operations, makes this an ideal investment opportunity for us," said Parag Patel, Chief Finance and Development Officer of SREE Hotels. "Having an existing presence in the market with our SpringHill Suites by Marriott Columbia Downtown/The Vista, will help us maximize the synergies between the two hotels, and enhance our partnership with the University of South Carolina and other area businesses."
Located at 630 Assembly Street, the Courtyard by Marriott Columbia Downtown is adjacent to the University of South Carolina, which now enrolls over 31,000 students. It is also within walking distance to the Historic Congaree Vista . a trendy shopping, dining and entertainment area. The hotel also offers convenient access to Colonial Life Arena, Riverbanks Zoo and Garden, Koger Center for the Arts as well as the South Carolina State Capitol.
The nine-story hotel features an outdoor swimming pool, a state-of-the-art fitness center and guest laundry, and offers three meeting rooms with a total of 5,000 square feet of space to accommodate functions of up to 300 people. The hotel also boasts The Bistro-Eat. Drink. Connect.R, offering casual, flexible seating; easier access to higher quality and healthier menu options for breakfast; and light evening fare, including snacks, cocktails, wine and beer so guests can unwind.
