Lake Placid Inn Wraps Regal Redesign

LAKE PLACID, N.Y.

AWH Partners, LLC recently announced the opening of Lake House at High Peaks Resort in Lake Placid, N.Y. Formerly the Lakeview Motor Inn, AWH acquired the 44-room retreat in 2013, shut it down for a complete renovation, and has now reopened the redesigned 1960s vintage Adirondack style inn as Lake House at High Peaks Resort.

With its Adirondack-inspired style, and one-of-a-kind views of Mirror Lake, Lake House aims to appeal to Lake Placid’s active and loyal visitor population.

“The goal of this major repositioning is to offer a lodging experience that the adventurous Lake Placid guest is seeking, but isn’t otherwise available today in the market,” says Chad Cooley, principal of AWH Partners. “Our target customer is the athlete, hiker, nature lover and family, nostalgic for the classics yet seeking individuality in their travel.”

Receiving a multimillion dollar upgrade over the last 18 months, enhancing its curb appeal, amenities and design, Lake House offers a contemporary interpretation of the classic Adirondack aesthetic and a name that celebrates its lake view location.

With an inviting "old school" porte-cochère trimmed by a custom-built cast iron firewood box, and views from its expansive windows overlooking Mirror Lake, the Lake House arrival experience aims to create a casual, hip vibe of relaxed days gone by at the lake.

Guests can experience a community atmosphere in the Lake House lobby, with group seating made from regionally-sourced hardwoods. The wall décor ranges from an oversize USGS map greeting guests upon arrival, to a locally inspired arrangement of hockey sticks paying homage to Lake Placid’s rich hockey history and the Miracle on Ice.

Amenities include a recreation room featuring classic games such as pingpong, air hockey and more, along with an indoor pool and hot tub overlooking Mirror Lake. With highlights of bright red, slate and cedar wood incorporated throughout the guest room design, the Adirondack aesthetic is true throughout.

For meetings and events, the Lake House offers a spacious Great Room as well as access to 10,000 square feet of flexible function space at its neighboring High Peaks Resort.
