HYANNIS, Barnstable, Mass.
A new 125-room Fairfield Inn & Suites has broken ground in Hyannis, the largest of seven villages in the town of Barnstable, Massachusetts.
Located at 867 Iyannough Road (Route 132), the Fairfield Inn & Suites Hyannis is scheduled to open in May 2015 and will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned and managed by Konover Hotel Corporation of West Hartford, Connecticut.
Formerly a Days Inn, the existing hotel closed on Aug. 4, 2014. The property will undergo a nine-month comprehensive renovation and expansion, including the addition of a third story and guest elevators. Located just one mile from Barnstable Municipal Airport and minutes from area beaches, the hotel offers guests convenient access to Hyannis, Cape Cod and the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
The Fairfield Inn & Suites Hyannis will include several new design features, including an updated exterior with a signature tower, a curved porte-cochere and a glass entrance. The hotel's open public space design will showcase natural light and views throughout the lobby and guests will be greeted by associates who can easily move from behind the angled front desk to interact and answer questions.
Guest rooms will feature "smart" room décor, including a well-designed work area, ergonomic chair, task lighting and several electrical outlets. A curved, mobile desk enables guests to create their own work space, while also optimizing television viewing.
Inspired by nature, the hotel's rooms and suites place the living and working area near the window to allow for more natural light and views. The new design also places the sleeping area toward the middle of the room, offering easier access to the bathroom and wardrobe.
Additional hotel amenities will include an indoor swimming pool, exercise room, valet laundry service and complimentary Wi-Fi. The hotel will also include 560 square feet of meeting space to accommodate functions of up to 45 people.
