Houston Meetings Magnet Begins Major Makeover

HOUSTON

The Houston Marriott West Loop by The Galleria has embarked on a multi-million dollar renovation to all of its public spaces to create an upscale and vibrant atmosphere that matches the city's lively attractions and scenes.

Visitors of the Galleria Houston hotel will be amazed by the extensive reinvention the second they step into the lobby. As the largest project in the West Houston hotel's 38-year history, the two-phase venture will include floor-to-ceiling revitalization of the lobby, front desk, food and beverage outlets and meeting and event spaces.

The first phase of the Galleria Houston hotel's renovation started in June 2014 and is scheduled be completed in September 2014, revitalizing the lounge, portions of the lobby and main restaurant, business center, Sapphire Room, main stairwell and porte-cochere.

Beginning in September 2014, the River Oaks hotel will pursue the second phase of the re-imagination that will include the front desk, front office, main restaurant, breakfast buffet, lobby restrooms and remaining portions of the lobby. The Galleria Houston hotel's entire renovation is scheduled for completion at the end of 2014.

A large part of the Galleria Houston hotel's renovation will be dedicated toward repurposing current space to create a new experience for entertaining guests. Portions of the existing lobby, meeting space, business center and lounge will be reinvented into a three-meal Greatroom, creating an open, inviting place for guests to relax, socialize and indulge in refreshments. A feature stairwell will descend through the middle of the new bar and lounge, leading guests to and from the Glass Palace in style. The existing restaurant will then be transformed into a new meeting space.

Bringing a more upscale and airy atmosphere to the contemporary hotel, all current ceiling areas will be raised 4 feet to 6 feet. Additional enhancements include floor foundation re-surfacing and the replacement of carpet and floor tiles.

The Houston Marriott West Loop by The Galleria at 1750 West Loop South in Houston, TX, is near the Houston Galleria and Uptown Park. The West Houston hotel is also convenient to Rice University. Featuring 13 floors, the hotel boasts 299 rooms, two suites and 18 meeting rooms with 17,000 square feet of flexible event space. Additional amenities include an indoor atrium pool, expanded fitness center, on-site dining and lavishly appointed rooms.
