MADISON, Wis.
The Edgewater in Madison, Wis., is reopening in grand style this September, following a regal renovation and expansion, in addition to inclusion into the Historic Hotels of America, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
The property is one of more than 250 hotels and resorts throughout the country that is recognized by Historic Hotels of America for preserving and maintaining its historic integrity, architecture and ambience; it is the only Madison-based hotel to be included in the portfolio.
The Edgewater opened in Madison 65 years ago with an appealing location right on the shore of Lake Mendota; the new hotel, just as the previous structure, will serve as a gathering place for significant family and business events from casual waterfront relaxation to fine dining.
The revamped property will feature the preserved facade of the old hotel with entirely new interiors, as well as the addition of a new tower and a large public plaza; Edgewater offers 200 guest rooms, four dining options, a fitness and wellness center, a multitude of indoor and outdoor event spaces (including two rooftop spaces), and even an outdoor skating rink in winter.
