COLUMBIA, Mo.
The Broadway, a DoubleTree by Hilton hotel located in downtown Columbia, Mo., has received a top honor from Hilton Worldwide.
The hotel was recognized as the DoubleTree’s ‘development deal of the year,’ based on the overall quality of the development, community impact and unique design and feel.
The new eight-story, 114-room hotel—offering 3,000 square feet of event space—opened March 2014 in the active downtown area of this major college city. Home to the University of Missouri and Stephens and Columbia Colleges, the town has been nicknamed “Collegetown USA."
With “green” construction employed throughout the building process, application for LEED certification has been applied for. If The Broadway is awarded, it will be the only hotel in mid-Missouri to achieve this environmentally friendly LEED designation.
The $21 million project features a unique and engaging design that combines the natural landscape of mid-Missouri along with the energy and excitement of the Downtown District. Inspired by LLW Architects, who provided the architecture, and the Lawrence Group, who added its branding concept, interior design and furnishings, the bold use of stainless steel accents and custom artwork by local artists give the hotel a distinctive boutique feel.
The venue also includes 11Eleven, the street level dining area featuring modern world cuisine, and The Roof, an inviting indoor/outdoor bar on the top floor where guests can enjoy creative libations, small plates and appetizers, a jumbo video screen/sound system, and views of the city.
