AUSTIN, Texas
JW Marriott Austin has announced that the hotel is now accepting guest room reservations, and will open earlier than previously announced, with check-in available on Friday, Feb. 13, 2015.
Upon completion, the 34-story hotel will not only be the largest hotel in Austin, but also the largest JW Marriott in the United States and the second-largest JW Marriott in the world; it is designed to host large conventions and meetings, with more than 112,000 square feet of event space, 42 meeting rooms and 1,012 guest rooms. The hotel will also achieve a LEED Silver certification and two-star Austin Energy Green Building rating.
The property recently hired executive chef Juan Martinez to oversee the hotel’s three in-house restaurants, as well as all of the hotel’s culinary operations for banquets, meetings, catering and more. Martinez has more than 15 years of experience in the culinary and hospitality industry. Before joining the JW Marriott Austin, he served as executive chef at the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, Golf Club & Spa for three years.
The JW Marriott Austin’s three restaurants will include a full-service regional Italian restaurant, a restaurant highlighting local regional cuisine and a restaurant with a walk-up food truck-style window on Congress Ave. Additionally, a full-service Starbucks will be located inside the hotel.
The Austin area will also soon welcome the Sonesta Bee Cave Austin, a new property planned for spring 2015 opening, located just 14 miles west of downtown Austin, in the midst of inviting dining, shopping, entertainment, office space, and residences at the Hill Country Galleria complex, a 1.3-million-square-foot lifestyle center. The hotel will offer 195 guest rooms, including 12 suites, plus 10,000 square feet of flexible meeting space.
