ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.
Even with some recent hotel struggles and while tackling its new push towards diversification, Atlantic City, N.J., seems to be holding up well with its meeting and convention activity.
The Atlantic City Convention Center at the New Jersey Shore locale welcomed more than 9,900 attendees during five events held over the past week.
Included among the week’s events were the Philadelphia National Candy Gourmet & Gift Show, America’s largest tradeshow for the retail confectioner, which took place Sept. 7 through Sept. 9, 2014, and hosted more than 5,000 attendees. During the same dates, the Arett Lawn & Garden Show brought together professionals of the lawn care and gardening industry for educational sessions and a show floor featuring more than 40,000 products and 1,800 retailers.
Another unique event that the convention center hosted was the setup and rehearsal for the 2014 Miss America “Show Us Your Shoes” Parade on September 13. The venue is also expected to welcome more than 1,200 postmasters for the 2014 NAPUS National Convention, held September 13 through 17.
The activity from the week’s events is expected to significantly boost activity for Atlantic City’s local businesses. The estimated economic impact is expected to be more than $5 million and the convention center visitors were occupying more than 6,000 hotel rooms throughout the week.
