HOUSTON
Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental and William P. Hobby Airports have joined the list of major U.S. airports now offering free Wi-Fi to customers.
The Houston Airport System (HAS) said that free Wi-Fi is currently available in all terminal areas at Hobby Airport, as well as Bush Intercontinental Airport terminals A and D. The service will be phased into the remaining terminals and garage areas in the next few months.
“Not only do our customers gain access to free Wi-Fi service, but they’re also enjoying a major upgrade over the previous fee-based system,” says Houston Aviation Director Mario C. Diaz.
Connection speeds are said to average up to 6 megabits per second (Mbps), which HAS claims can handle rich-streaming video through its utilization of hundreds of access points.
HAS said it has incurred the cost of installing the network and that customers may simply select the SSID “Free Airport WIFI” and agree to the Terms of Use to connect to the service.
