MIAMI
The Shelborne, a South Beach property with extensive history, has just reopened as Shelborne Wyndham Grand South Beach following a $90 million restoration and renovation.
The property was originally designed by Art Deco architect Igor Polevitsky in 1940 and updated in the 1950s by Morris Lapidus, who applied his Neo-baroque Miami Modern touches.
The revamped Shelborne Wyndham Grand now features Morimoto South Beach, a contemporary Miami restaurant from award-winning chef Masaharu Morimoto, who will also curate Shelborne Wyndham Grand’s comprehensive food and beverage programs including room service, catering and additional forthcoming dining establishments.
Additionally, Shelborne Wyndham Grand’s 1940s-inspired lobby has been restored as the Drawing Room Bar & Lounge, which presents an original artistic cocktail program.
Shelborne Wyndham Grand’s public spaces are now multi-functional; the Drawing Room lounge for example, which serves as a business center and reading room by day, will transform into a vibrant bar scene at night. The property will also introduce two specialty suites later this year, including a spa suite and its Penthouse suite, which will feature a vinyl lounge.
The resort also features more than 15,000 square feet of expansive event areas that include several meeting rooms, an executive boardroom, breakout rooms, a grand ballroom and ample indoor and outdoor flexible space, allowing Shelborne to cater to a wide array of celebrations, galas, corporate functions and intimate gatherings. Every meeting and event will feature culinary selections created by Chef Morimoto.
Located oceanfront in the heart of South Beach’s Art Deco District, Shelborne Wyndham Grand is within walking distance to Lincoln Road and Ocean Drive. The pool and lounge area, which features cabanas, leads right up to the boardwalk and a long stretch of white-sand beach.
