WASHINGTON, D.C.
The Embassy Row Hotel, a Destination Hotel, has launched an extensive $15 million renovation. The renovation will encompass all eleven floors and 231 guest rooms.
The extensive renovation will include a complete revamp of the guest rooms, 6,250 square feet of new event space, fitness and recreation studio, and new eclectic public space, which includes a social lobby, a marketplace with a coffee shop feel and a 24-hour grab-n-go, and a restaurant, overlooking Embassy Row. To attract a younger demographic, the space will feature unique cocktails and shared plates, served at communal tables and nook-style seating.
By adding a coffee shop and cocktail lounge, it provides guests and Washingtonians with an engaging social experience authentic to Washington, D.C. More details about the new restaurant, Station Kitchen & Cocktails will be revealed in the coming weeks.
HVS Design is overseeing the interior design which aims to blend the cosmopolitan flair of its diplomatic neighbors to provide a warm, service-centric local atmosphere. Guests will notice elements of its Washington, D.C., origins weaved throughout the hotel.
Phase two of the renovation follows the hotel's launch of the only outdoor rooftop terrace and bar in Dupont Circle earlier this summer. The Rooftop established itself as an urban oasis in the neighborhood with sweeping views of the city, including the Washington Monument.
The original hotel was built in 1970 by the multi-millionaire Dr. Cyrus Katzen and has an illustrious history that includes hosting celebrities such as the Rockefellers, Denzel Washington, and Peyton Manning—plus notable figures from Hillary Clinton to President Obama, and is featured in the plot of many best-sellers such as Delta Force.
Upon completion, The Embassy Row Hotel will be positioned as an iconic hotel in a top location with the newest offerings in Dupont Circle.
A seasonally-timed renovation for phase two will allow the hotel to remain open during the renovations, which are expected to be complete in March 2015. The hotel will gradually reveal new offerings and amenities to guests during the 18-week span.
