DUCK KEY, Fla.
Hawks Cay Resort, a sprawling and multifaceted Florida Keys property, announced it has entered the final phase of a multimillion dollar renovation.
The extensive project touches nearly every aspect of the resort from the landscape architecture and exterior reception area to the lobby and guestrooms as well as meetings facilities, Calm Waters Spa and a children’s activities center.
The renovation is part of the re-launch program initiated by Carey Watermark Investors, which acquired the resort in the fall of 2013. Pyramid Hotel Group, the resort’s new management company, is overseeing the project.
Hawks Cay Resort has taken on a coastal casual design, infused with aqua and blue hues that overlap a palette of whites and light grays. The redesign aims to ensure that seaside ambience pervades every aspect of a guest’s stay.
As part of the renovation, the resort has also added a variety of new amenities and activities that include luxury cabanas at the adults-only pool area and chic penthouses equipped for stargazing. The renovated kids’ activities center features a new high-tech hangout for teens and an expanded educational program complete with an indoor, saltwater touch tank for Island Adventure Camp, designed for children age five to 12.
The final piece in the new Hawks Cay experience will debut in June 2015, when the resort will unveil a new Marina Walk to serve as an entertainment destination; it will be host to watersports and charter captains as well as shopping and local artisans, and complemented by a new-build restaurant that features expansive outdoor seating with multiple fire pits, private dining and panoramic ocean views.
The 60-acre Hawks Cay Resort boasts 177 guest rooms and 225 two- and three-bedroom villas, a full-service marina, four restaurants, saltwater lagoon, five swimming pools, kid and teen clubs and the Calm Waters Spa. It also offers more than 20,000 square feet of function space for business meetings and social events.
On-site and nearby activities include offshore, flats and backcountry fishing; diving; kayaking; kiteboarding and standup paddle-boarding programs; the Cliff Drysdale tennis program; Segway tours; and a resort-based Dolphin Connection program with free daily viewings.
